Taiwan’s Central Bank Explores Potential of Blockchain Technology
New governor of Taipei’s Central Bank, Yang Chin-long, suggested the bank would be open to exploring blockchain technologies.
Commenting on the future of blockchain in Taiwan, Yang Chin-Long said: “Taiwan’s central bank will be open to blockchain technologies as big data will need to be secure, accessible and able to be processed efficiently enough to meet the demands of global economic conditions.”
Taipei’s government announced last year that it intends to turn the capital into a smart city by adopting blockchain technologies.
New state-of-the art facilities will use blockchain technologies to combat and reduce pollution in the city. Taiwan would also be looking to roll out blockchain technology within their healthcare system.
